Check our special review of the incredible first edition of Drumcode Festival
Drumcode Festival was the party which techno lovers all across the world were waiting for. A festival organized by the label of the Swedish DJ and producer, Adam Beyer: Drumcode together with Awakenings. For those who visited the Awakenings Drumcode nights in the legendary Gashouder: this festival was a wish coming true.
The festival was held at the NDSM yard, one of Amsterdam’s better industrial locations. To get there I had to take a ferry. While at the ferry I hear the first techno beats already and I am really in the mood to party. I am happily surprised to see all the different nationalities at the festival. Drumcode festival’s first edition is already popular all over the world. Techno lovers from Brazil, Australia, United States and many more countries flew over to Amsterdam to be a part of this amazing party.
Around 4:00 PM I arrive at the festival ground. First I want to check out all stages. Drumcode festival hosted 4 cool stages. Two inside and two in the open air. The colours red, blue, purple and orange direct the partypeople to the stage they are looking for. On the red stage it was Illario Alicante who was hypnotizing the crowd with his melodious techno. Love to see how this guy keeps contact with the dancefloor, great DJ. The vibe at the red main stage is perfect, there is enough space to dance and the stage itself looks spectacular.
After Ilario Alicante his set I am heading to Nick Curly at the Orange stage. This cozy stage with excellent soundsystem is the smallest stage of Drumcode Festival. But again, what a vibe! The techno is more easy here and I really enjoy the set of Nick Curly. After one hour I decide to go to Dense & Pika at the purple stage. The bpm raises in this hot tent, but what a great techno! The soundsystem and lasershow are like the whole festival: amazing! After I rest my feet for a couple minutes and grab some food at one of the multiple food corners I decided to go to Joseph Capriati at the Red Mainstage. This Drumcode legend plays with the crowd and when the drop hits the crowd on the dancefloor goes crazy.
Time for me to go the Purple stage to enjoy the last half hour of Luigi Madonna and Roberto Capuano. These Italian producers never let me down, wow, best half hour of the day for me. After this I decide to go to King Drumcode Adam Beyer. And the King always delivers… I heard so many nice tunes and the lasers at the mainstage are just mindblowing. At 10:00 PM it is time for the last act of the night: Amelie Lens at the Blue stage. Amelie her sets are for those who like it hard. As one of the festival closers she pushed the last energy out of my legs Well done Amelie Lens, it was a blast.
Looking back at Drumcode Festival: it really was a very good party I definitely recommend. Soundsystems were perfect, bars were not too crowded, enough space to dance, the crowd was one big family, the music was on point and last but not least the Drumcode festival staff was very friendly.
